Our Brewery Story

River Hops Brewing, a combination brewery, taproom, and entertainment venue, began serving a unique assortment of craft beers from its 15 taps to the public in July 2018 in the Fort Dodge, Iowa, historic center.The building built in the 1950s was a radio station most recently and a savings and loan prior to that. Given the building's history, a good deal was repurposed and materials from other local reclamation projects were used during renovation and 12-foot addition to create a unique industrial and eclectic look. The brick around the bar is from the Hydroelectric Dam; wooden beams are from a farmstead near Barnum; and the brewery windows are from a house remodeled in town. Even the furniture had a previous life before re-imagined for use in the taproom. The result is a striking facility with a welcoming feel that has incorporated a significant amount of Fort Dodge history. Customers seated near the large front windows look out on an attractive green space directly across Central Avenue from River Hops Brewing.
